We are no strangers to Spain and absolutely love the country. Out of all the incredible destinations we could have chosen for our trip in June 2025, we decided on the island of Mallorca.
Cala Major caught our attention, and Natalia found a wonderful beachfront hotel called Nixe Palace. While it isn't part of a major US chain, it was fantastic and we truly enjoyed our stay. The hotel provided everything we needed: spacious, immaculate rooms with stunning views, great dining options, seamless beach access, and excellent security. The beach itself was wonderful, with pristine water where we spent hours swimming every single day. For dining, we loved exploring the various options in downtown Cala Major, which was just a short, few-minute walk from the hotel.
During the trip, we ventured into Palma's historic district to explore the local sights and downtown architecture. We stopped for food and drinks at a vibrant street-side spot, enjoying that uniquely intimate European setting where the tables are so close that everyone sits just an arm's length away.
Another highlight was taking the historic wooden train to Sóller and visiting Port de Sóller. Both locations were great, though we found ourselves enjoying the coastal charm of the port a bit more than the town of Sóller itself. When it was time to return, we didn't want to wait around for the next scheduled train. Taxis proved difficult to find, so we took advantage of the island's reliable, air-conditioned public transit instead, which worked out perfectly.
Although our stay was just six nights, we thoroughly loved our time at Nixe Palace and Cala Major. Mallorca delivered a flawless experience. For us, this was a definitive 10/10 trip, and we highly recommend the destination, the hotel, and the island itself. We already cannot wait to return.
